The aromas literally jump out of the glass.  Sage, earth, and mushrooms abound.  In the mouth there are wild berries and a distinctive dryness.  Fruit abounds but it is balanced in a tight, lean, chewy package with soft tannins.  The wine literally cries out for a classic Tuscan pasta with a ragù di carne alla fiorentina.

I have spent much of the last two years in Florence visiting properties and tasting throughout Tuscany.  I was searching for a classic Tuscan producer to import.  No super Tuscan, certainly not Sangiovese and Syrah but the old world, dry, light, complex, dried flowers, good acidity, food wines that I’ve known and loved since I have been in the business.  Finally I found Castello di Tornano and their perfect expressions of Sangiovese, blended as is the tradition with Canaiolo, and Colorino.
